COVID-19 Policy Updates

Central Square Theater’s Box Office is working both remotely and in person. All calls and messages are being answered and responded to as soon as possible. Safety and Returning to Indoor Theater

As we excitedly prepare to welcome you back to the world of live indoor theater, we want to let you know how we will be keeping our shared community safe. 

The health and wellbeing of our patrons, staff, and performers is the priority above all else. In order to ensure the full enjoyment of theater performances, we at Central Square Theater, along with a coalition of Boston, and greater Boston theaters, have established the following policies surrounding vaccination, testing, and masking in accordance with the CDC and local guidance. We are implementing the following policy through October 31.

Central Square Theater’s Policy

    • The easiest way to gain admittance to Central Square Theater is by being fully vaccinated. This means your second dose of Pfizer or Moderna, or your single dose of Johnson & Johnson was administered at least 14 days prior to attendance. 
    • In order to attend any shows in person at Central Square Theater, theater goers must show either proof of vaccination, a negative PCR COVID test from the last 72 hours, or a negative Antigen test from the last 24 hours.
    • CDC approved masks are required regardless of vaccination status when visiting Central Square Theater.
    • If on the day of the event if you are experiencing any COVID symptoms, please stay home and contact our Box Office.

Theater goers can present this information in one of two ways:

    • The Bindle app (see information below) is free, easy-to-use app allowing you to keep your vaccination and testing information private and secure making your entrance to Central Square Theater hassle-free.
    • By bringing a physical vaccine card or negative covid test result, or a photo of a vaccine card or negative covid test result

As we adopt this new policy, we understand that getting everyone on the same page will take patience and grace, and we ask that you give our staff the same understanding as we all learn together. We will continue to review these policies as circumstances evolve and change.

How Does Bindle Work?

My Bindle is an app we and many other theatres and venues have partnered with to validate COVID vaccination and testing information. Bindle allows you to easily upload your vaccine or testing status, without worrying about your personal data being insecure.

FAQs

Are Central Square Theater staff vaccinated?

Yes, Central Square Theater is a fully vaccinated organization. All affiliates with the productions have had their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna, or their single dose of Johnson & Johnson at least 14 days prior to rehearsals. 

Do I have to use the App or can I just bring in the Vaccination Card or Test Results?

You do not have to use the app, but it will be easier if you do as you will not have to carry your physical vaccine card or test results. 

What if I test positive?

If you test positive, you can’t be admitted to the theater. Please contact our box office at tickets@centralsquaretheater.org for an exchange of tickets or a refund. 

What if I have COVID symptoms?

If you have any of the following symptoms: fever, sore throat, chills, cough, shortness of breath, congestion, nausea, or vomiting, please contact our box office to request a refund or exchange and do not come to the show.

What if I don’t use the app and I forget the Test Results or Vaccination card?

If you are not able to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test via the methods we have laid out above, admittance will not be granted. The best way to avoid this is by utilizing the Bindle app! 

Will you accept an antibody test?

We are only accepting proof of vaccination and negative PCR COVID-19 test (administered within 72 hours or less) or a negative Antigen test (administered within the past 24 hours or less).

Will the performers wear masks on stage?

The actors will not wear masks while on stage during the performance, and will be keeping at least 10 feet of distance from any audience member.

What kind of ventilation system does the CST have?

With our partners at MIT, we have recently performed a complete evaluation of our HVAC systems, including testing and balancing. All of our filters were changed to MERV 13 or higher. Our airflow systems can vary the amount of fresh air that is brought in, allowing for high levels of outside air during shows.

Will concessions be available at the theatre?

For everyone’s safety, we will not be selling concessions at this time. Outside water will be permitted, but please be mindful of those around you if drinking. 

Will printed programs be available?

At this time we have primarily moved to digital programs available through a QR code and a link in a pre-show email.

Can I get a refund since I disagree with this policy?

If you do not wish to come to the theater with this policy in place, there are 3 options – a credit towards future tickets, a kind donation to the theater, or a refund.
