At this special performance dedicated to our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, grab refreshments at our private pre-show starting at 7:00pm, enjoy a pop-up concert by The Cambridge Chinese Choral Society at 7:30pm, and stay for a post-show conversation intended to center and celebrate the Asian American identities, storytelling, and experiences.

  • Christina R Chan

    Christina R Chan

    Christina R Chan is an actor, playwright and producer. Her writing explores the intersections in Asian American history, racial justice, mental health challenges and gambling addiction in the AAPI community.

    During the pandemic, Christina was in Lyric Stage’s audio walking plays Walking It Off and Hummingbird. She was seen on Zoom as Eleanor in Company One Theater’s “DownTown Crossing” by David Valdes. Her favorite roles in person have been An Mei, THE JOY LUCK CLUB (Umbrella Theater, Concord, MA), Ensemble, Wild Swans (American Repertory Theatre, Cambridge, MA), and Comrade Chin/Suzuki, M Butterfly (Vineyard Haven, Martha’s Vineyard, MA).

    Christina was a Company One Theater Playwright Fellow and a three-time LAB Grantee.
    Her play, Stir Frying Mahjong was a semifinalist for the O’Neill National Theater Conference. She was commissioned by the Chinese Historical Society of New England and ArtsEmerson to adapt a play written by Harry H Dow, the 1st Asian American to pass the Massachusetts’ bar.

    Her plays have been produced or workshopped at the MFA, ArtsEmerson, Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center, Company One Theater, TC2 Theater, Starlight Square, Fresh Ink Theater, and HowlRound. Her work is published in AAPC Anthology I, II, III, IV, & V by in vivo.

    Christina is a Co-Founding Member of the Asian American Playwright Collective (AAPC). She received her theater training at Trinity Rep Conservatory, Rhode Island and Royal National Theatre, UK.

    Jingwen Zhang

    Jingwen Zhang (She/Her/Hers) is a bilingual artist working internationally and currently residing in Boston as a Director, Playwright, and Stage and Production Manager. Previous directing credits include The Orphan of Zhao: A Modern Adaption; Love, and Everything Related (virtual production) at CHUANG Lab@Emerson. Stage management credits include A Deal by Zhu Yi (English and Mandarin); The Ghost of Keelung by Jamie Lin at CHUANG Stage; The Flight of a Legless Bird by Ethan Luk at Beijing Prism Theater Festival. Assistant stage management credits include The Colored Museum, Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy at The Umbrella Stage Company. Production assistant credits include Much Ado About Nothing at Commonwealth Shakespeare Company. Jingwen is a graduate of Emerson College (BFA Theatre 22’).

    Micah Rose

    Micah Rose carves queer divinity through breath, word, and movement. They are a mestize Tagala memory artist who shares traditions like theatre, story circles, yoga, spoken word, and taiko as paths for communal care. Micah roots in relationship: weaving futures with peoples at Arts Connect International, The Theater Offensive, Company One Theatre, Pao Arts Center, Liyang Network, American Repertory Theatre, and beyond. Their art is published in All the Oils by Ginger Bug Press, CONSTRUCT zine, The Margins, The Wave Magazine, and HowlRound Theatre Commons.
