Paradise

Yasmeen, a Muslim-American teenager in the Bronx, meets with her teacher Dr. Royston, a mysterious scientist forced to teach high school biology. If she salvages her perfect score, she can claim her independence: pursue her passion for science while honoring her cultural traditions. An unlikely, inspired partnership is created, investigating adolescent romantic love. Clashes arise out of their conflicts over religion, science, and mentorship as both teacher’s and student’s lives are transformed forever.

Homebody

Holding only an outdated guidebook of Kabul, an eccentric and agoraphobic British housewife proclaims her unconsummated passion for the world. She grapples with the rich and turbulent history of Afghanistan, muses about living in the Middle East, confides to us her desire to divorce herself from the complacency of her safe life in London. Premiering shortly after 9/11, Tony Kushner’s prescience was praised, as was Homebody’s warm invocation of hope in an increasingly chilling, negative world.

The Midvale High School Fiftieth Reunion

Tonight, it’s Midvale High School’s class of 1954’s 50th reunion. Tom and Bettina – returning for the first time – are looking for second chances. As the evening revs up to the highly anticipated dance contest, they flash back to formative moments – but are those memories real? Emmy winning actor Gordon Clapp (NYPD Blue) and our own Debra Wise, star in Alan Brody’s (Operation Epsilon) romantic comedy about how we remember, how we choose and how we never stop looking for love.

Intimate Exchanges

Two actors. Six characters. Four different courses of action. What will happen next? Master of form Alan Ayckbourn’s (Absurd Person Singular) Intimate Exchanges follows marriages and love affairs in a London suburb. Meet Celia Teasdale, the wife of the drunken headmaster of the local school. And then, there’s Sylvie Bell, Celia’s part-time help, to whom there is more than meets the eye – is she a modern day Eliza Doolittle?

In the opening scene, Celia steps into her backyard and eyes a pack of cigarettes. Her choice leads to one of four possibilities. On alternating performances, you can follow either Celia or Sylvie in their path throughout the play. At intermission, place your vote on how you want the play to end. And, if you don’t like the result, you’ve nobody to blame but yourself!

Bonus: On Saturdays see both paths in the matinee and the evening!

Do you want to purchase tickets to a “Celia” night or a “Sylvie” night? Look at this schedule!
