Scholar Social for The Midvale High School Fiftieth Reunion with Dr. Erlene Rosowsky, a Geropsychologist

Join us after the 7:30pm show on Thursday, June 8, 2017 for a fascinating discussion with a Dr. Erlene Rosowsky, a Geropsychologist, about her work and The Midvale High School Fiftieth Reunion.

Dr Erlene Rowosky, PsyD is a psychologist who divides her time between clinical practice, education, and research. She is a Teaching Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She is a Core Faculty member at William James College (WJC) where she serves as Director of the Concentration in Geropsychology and Director of the WJC Center for Mental Health and Aging. Dr.Rosowsky is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America.

Dr. Rosowsky is on the Council of Professional Geropsychology Training Programs, is the Past-Chair of Generations editorial board, and serves on the Mental health and Aging Leadership Council of the American Society on Aging.

Dr. Rosowsky has achieved international recognition as an expert on late-life personality disorders. She is well published in the professional literature and has authored three books, numerous chapters, articles, and columns.

In 2011 and 2012, Dr. Rosowsky was a Fulbright Specialist in global/public health (mental health) visiting The Netherlands and Belgium.She will be visiting China as a Fulbright grantee in October,2017.

In 2012, Dr. Rosowsky received the American Society on Aging Award for “outstanding contributions to the field of aging.”

Join Midvale Dance Captain Felton Sparks for a dance lesson after the Friday, June 9, 2017 performance! He’ll have you waltzing, fox trotting, and lindy hopping all over the stage!

Felton Sparks is the dance captain for The Midvale High School Fiftieth Reunion. Select Boston acting credits include O Beautiful (dir. Benny Sato Ambush), Lizzie Stranton (dir. Lee Mikeska Gardner), King Liz (dir. Benny Sato Ambush), A Chorus Line (Richie), Still Life With Iris (Mr. Matternot), and The Grown Up (Actor C). Sparks is a proud member of the Emerson Dance Company at Emerson College where he is a senior studying acting and dance. He placed first runner up in the Jerry Herman Awards LA 2014 for Leading Male Singer and was nominated for Best Choreography.

Suki Hanfling, MSW, LICSW, BCD is an American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, & Therapists (AASECT) Certified Sex Therapist, Diplomate, and Educator. In 2001, she was presented with the first AASECT Award for “Outstanding Contributions to the Field as a Therapist, Teacher, & Supervisor” in the New England, New York area.

Suki helped write and edit three editions of the Harvard Medical School Special Health Report, Sexuality in Midlife and Beyond, the later two editions alongside Dr. Jan L. Shriffen.

Suki Hanfling is the Founder & Director of The Institute for Sexuality & Intimacy in Waltham where she has her private practice and an advanced training and fee for service program in sex therapy for very experienced and skilled couple’s therapists. Suki has given over 375 presentations, workshops, grand rounds and courses on couples therapy, sexuality and sex therapy in the United States, Canada, and Europe. She has also been a guest speaker on numerous television and radio programs and is frequently interviewed by the media.

She was the Founder & Director of the former McLean Hospital Human Sexuality Program & The Co-Founder/Co Director of the former McLean Institute for Couples & Families where she worked for over 30 years. During her many years at McLean Hospital, Suki was elected the President of the Smith College Graduate School of Social Work Field Faculty Association and served from 1984-1990. Along with other McLean Staff she co-authored:  “What About My Needs?  Common Dilemmas in Couples Therapy with Survivors and Their Partners”, published in The Journal of Traumatic Stress. In 1986, she won the Second Annual McLean Hospital Social Work Service Award, which is given to the social worker that has made the greatest contribution to social work practice. As part of her job, she was asked to be the clinical consultant for The Watertown Multi Service Center which she did for over 10 years.

Suki was appointed to serve on the Professional Advisory Committee of the Mass. Association for Mental Health. She has also done private consultation on family therapy for the Children’s Services Unit of the Dorchester Mental Health Center. 

Suki graduated from the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work, Chestnut Hill, MA.
