Description
CST’s Connectivity department designs programs and events to help community members better understand and engage with the science and social justice themes in our plays. The Connectivity Intern will collaborate with our Connectivity Curator and Facilitator in researching and engaging scholars for our Central Conversations series. The intern will help identify prospective speakers, prepare and send outreach emails, maintain contact records, and sit in on meetings with scholars and community partners. This role offers a close-up view on how artistic and academic networks come together to deepen the audience experience.
Responsibilities
The Connectivity Intern will research Boston-area scholars whose work aligns with upcoming productions, and log findings in CST’s contact database. The Intern will draft and send inquiry emails using established templates, track responses, and follow-up with tasks. They will coordinate calendars, draft brief meeting agendas, and attend virtual or in-person scholar meetings alongside the Connectivity Curator. They will assist with audience-building outreach by identifying community organizations, libraries, and campus groups that might attend or co-host events. They will be the liaison with the Marketing and Education departments as needed.
Requirements
The ideal candidate would be a current undergraduate student—all majors are welcome—with strong research and writing skills. They would be detail-oriented, organized, have a professional communication style, and be comfortable emailing and calling faculty and professionals in the field. Interest in theater, public humanities, science communication, or community engagement is always encouraged. Availability for occasional evening or weekend events is a plus.
